Description
The Hoshizaki Electric company was founded by Mr Shigetoshi Sakamoto who demonstrated remarkable foresight when he started Hoshizaki in Nagoya Japan 1947. From an early stage Mr Sakamoto recognised the need to invest in research and technology and in 1959 his son Seishi joined the company. Together the pair worked with engineers who shared their vision and the breakthrough came with their invention of the first ice machine in Japan in 1965. With the company’s reputation for invention and consistent quality established at home in Japan, businesses from across the world began to demand Hoshizaki products. And gradually, with expansion firstly in Asia, America, then Europe and most recently the Middle East and Africa, Hoshizaki has become a truly global company reaching customers in over 100 countries.
From humble beginnings, Hoshizaki equipment now serves the world, enabling customers to preserve, innovate, to heal and to educate in the professional, health, hospitality, bio-science, marine and education industries across every continent and in all climates. Placing reliability, durability and energy efficiency at the centre of the design process, generations of Hoshizaki engineers have helped build an international reputation for high quality, well-designed products. By merging with refrigeration specialist Gram Commercial, Hoshizaki have brought together the brilliance of Japanese engineering and the intelligence of Danish design. The collaboration has created the world’s most connected, innovative and responsible manufacturer of cold solutions. Together, They continue to explore the realms of possibility.
This Hoshizaki FM-150AKE-HC-SB is a self contained flake ice maker producing up to 150 kg of high-quality flake ice per 24 hours.
Hoshizaki FM ice makers generate quality granular ice, such as Flake ice. The light texture of granular ice has a quick cooling effect, creating an environment of uniform temperatures, without causing unpleasant freezer-burn. This is why Hoshizaki Flake ice is highly popular and considered the ideal material to prepare and layer hygienic and attractive food displays.
For flake ice, the extruding head is equipped with wide channels and multi-blade cutters.
Sustainable
The FM-150AKE-HC-SB uses refrigerant R290. This natural refrigerant is not only climate-friendly, but also boosts the machine when it comes to performance and production capacity.
Material
The exterior and the auger are made of stainless steel. The closed water circuit provides maximum protection against any type of contamination during ice production. All Hoshizaki machines are easy to use, clean, and maintain.
Unique Technology
The inner workings of Flakers is designed to prevent unpleasant calcification and bacterial contamination. For example, the use of carbon graphite bushings instead of conventional ball bearings allows the machine to work entirely without grease.
Smart Design
Like all Hoshizaki Ice makers, the FM-150AKE-HC-SB is designed to last and comes with smart design extras, such as the intuitive control display for preventive maintenance.
Perfect Fit
With outside dimensions W x D x H of 560 x 700 x 780 mm, the FM-150AKE-HC-SB is compact and is a perfect fit for small spaces.
Plug&Play
The smart plug-and-play design guarantees an easy and quick set-up.

Product Features
- Member of the Emerald Class, Hoshizaki’s range of climate friendly ice makers.
- Can produce 150kg of cube ice per 24 hours (AT 10°C, WT 10°C).
- Efficient ice making process due to Hoshizaki’s unique FM auger system.
- Utilises all water brought into the machine; therefore water consumption is equal to ice production.
- Hoshizaki’s flake ice prevents ‘freeze-burn’ when displaying fresh fish or produce.
- Auger is made of double hardened stainless steel. Combined with carbon bearings, they work optimally in a tough and wet environment. Benefits include: longer product life expectancy and reduced maintenance costs.
- Hoshizaki ice makers are micro computer controlled, controlling the ice making process to perform at its best under varying circumstances, without having to make physical adjustments.
- Quality stainless steel auger and evaporator increase the life expectancy of these components and the whole ice maker, as well as reducing costly maintenance visits.
- Easily cleanable air filter allows end-users to carry out routine cleaning schedules. Extends product life expectancy and reduces the frequency and costs of maintenance call-outs.
Please note – Storage bin sold separately. Price is for ice machine head only.
